Artistic Director

Art exists to give expression to that which humanity cannot easily explain.

Peta has worked extensively as an Independent theatre practitioner for over 25 years. Some of her Directorial and Dramaturgical credits include:
Sammy and the sword, Mickey and the Mistress by Angus Cerini, Framework by Sandra Shotlander, Moon Babies by Patrick Van Der Werf, Dead Pan words by W.Shakespeare, The Jaundice Table by Glyn Roberts, SHRIMP by Dominic Golding, Brother Boy by Nic Velissaris, Le Garcon Neurotique by Joshua Cameron.

She has also worked as a Puppeteer with Polyglot, Stilt walker with STYX, Actor, Lighting designer, Production manager and Stage Manager on both outdoor and in-theatre productions with many and various artists both locally and interstate.

She was seconded as Director in observation to Gale Edwards for Eureka at Her Majesties Theatre, Melbourne and Assistant Director to Julian Meyrick for the Melbourne Theatre Company in 2005.

Peta has sat on several Arts panel's including - Wal Cherry Best Script and The Artistic Advisory Committee for Melbourne Workers Theatre.

La Mama honoured Peta in 2006 with the 'L.S.G. award' for contribution to theatre. In 2007 She produced, dramaturged and Directed SHRIMP, winning the Drama Victoria Award "Best performance for young people 2007". Peta was also co-recipient of the "Antenna Award" for 'Best Drama' for YARTZ and National community television 2005.

The Dog Theatre Inc. won the Melbourne Fringe Festival "Best Venue" Award 2009 and is the next step in Peta's evolvement as Theatre practitioner, Artistic Director and Independent Producer of a small yet vibrant theatre venue centred in the heartland of the western suburbs of Melbourne, Footscray.

Bree Hartley completed her BA in Media Studies at RMIT in 2002. She was the Administrative Assistant at La Mama theatre from 2004 - 2008, participating in the national fundraising campaign to buy the building. In theatre she first performed at La Mama in Framing Piece (1990) and has since performed in over 10 Lloyd Jones directed pieces there including Men and Women At...Warrr!, Almost Nothing About Nothingness, The Seer, The Horr-r! The Horr-r! The Horr-r!, 9000 seconds...why? [because], Where the Land Lays (as part of the La Mama 40th Birthday Explorations Season 2007), and was a musician in theatre in decay's The Lobotomist: A 10 Minute Musical as part of the Short & Sweet Festival at the Victorian Arts Centre in 2007. She started playing drums when she was 12 and currently performs with local bands Manny Fox Hangman's Club and with Canadian singer/songwriter Tracy McNeil.

Rosie Collins successfully completed a Diploma of Small Companies and Community Theatre at Swinburne University in 2006. Since then Rosie has worked on numerous theatre productions. Her Stage Management credits include No Exit (Beaumaris Community Theatre), 4:48 Psychosis (Red Stitch), Laurence and Hollowman (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2007), Cop Shop (Sausage Fest Theatre, Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2008), The New Australian Race (Commonplace Theatre), The Ruffian On The Stair (le poulet terrible), Benn Bennett's Westside Christmas Bonanza (The Dog Theatre), Two Sisters and a piano (The Shift Theatre), The Doctor in spite of Himself (le poulet terrible), Swell (Janelle Keonig), FRED (The Shift Theatre). In 2008 Rosie produced The Joy Before Thinking for The Little Ones Theatre. She is also a performer.
